Our goal is to provide highly effective rehabilitation to all who need it and to improve the quality of life for our patients and their families. AXIS Medical Center specializes in intensive neurorehabilitation for babies, children and adults.

We offer 9 rehabilitation programs based on age and diagnosis. We guarantee a highly competent team, based on many years of experience in rehabilitation. The basis of each program is a neurophysiological exercise in a team of 2-3 physiotherapists supplemented by other therapies as indicated by the doctor.

A wide range of therapies helps patients to improve their health and emotional state. The Clinical Speech Therapy Department provides intensive speech therapy care and works systematically to improve the patient’s communication skills.

The friendly atmosphere, family background and professional approach positively influence the course of rehabilitation and lead to excellent results. You can find us on Spa Island in Piešt’any, in the middle of a beautiful spa park, where you can relax and recharge your batteries after rehabilitation.

About us

AXIS concept

The AXIS concept is a tailor-made rehabilitation programme reflecting the individual needs of the client. These programs have been developed by our team based on years of experience in working with patients with neurological diseases.

The AXIS concept is based on intensive, comprehensive and systematic rehabilitation using a variety of world-renowned methods and techniques, which are combined with each other according to the needs of the patient. The framework programs are designed based on the diagnosis, age and current state of health of the patient. Each program is tailored to the specific needs of the patient, taking into account their requirements and needs.

During an intensive rehabilitation stay (2-8 weeks), the patient receives 4-8 hours of therapy per day, 5-6 days per week. The basis of each rehabilitation program is intensive neurophysiological exercise (with a team of 2-3 therapists), which is supplemented with therapies based on the doctor’s indication. The entire rehabilitation process is supervised by a physician and in close collaboration between the patient and their entire team. Based on our experience and studies, such a concept yields excellent results. With proper rehabilitation, patients not only avoid serious surgeries, but their condition can gradually improve and they can live a better quality and happier life.

What diagnoses do you work with, do you rehabilitate children and adults?

AXIS Medical Center specializes in intensive neurorehabilitation for babies, children and adults. We offer 9 rehabilitation programs based on age and diagnosis.

We work with diagnoses such as: Cerebral palsy (CP), congenital developmental disorders, sequelae of traumatic head and brain injuries, spinal muscular atrophy (SMA), central tone and coordination disorder, sequelae of spinal cord injury, metabolic and genetic disorders affecting mobility, spina bifida, consequences of neuroinfections, consequences of orthopaedic surgery, impaired psychomotor development, consequences of stroke, scoliotic changes of the spine, other diseases of the central and peripheral nervous system, delayed psychomotor development and autistic spectrum disorders.

To determine the appropriate program, a medical report must be submitted for review by the medical department.

Are the therapies provided covered by insurance?

Axis Medical Center is a private rehabilitation facility that does not contract with health insurance companies. However, it is possible to receive an allowance for medical care provided by a non-contracted provider. How to proceed?

What languages do you speak?

In our centre we speak Slovak, Czech, English, German, Italian, Ukrainian and Russian.

Do you provide accommodation directly in the centre?

Axis medical centre provides both rehabilitation and accommodation under one roof. AXIS rooms are located on the second and third floors of the Balnea Grand Hotel, which is directly connected by a corridor to the Splendid Hotel and the Balnea Medical Spa. Axis offers different room categories including wheelchair accessible rooms.

Can I commute to rehabilitation?

Accommodation at AXIS is not a requirement for rehabilitation, it is possible to commute to the therapies or stay at one of our partner spa Ensana’s other hotels. Rehabilitation booking .

You have a clinical speech therapy department, can I also sign up for external speech therapy?

Yes, you can. The Clinical Speech Therapy Department also provides outpatient sessions for external clients. A referral is not required, there is no charge for the diagnostic session. You can make an appointment via the contact form.
